In our industry we cover our feet with socks and shoes (more than likely steel toe). We put various hats on to protect our heads from the sun, rain, cold and damaging our domes. We also wear safety glasses to protect our eyes.
Skin is our largest organ—adults carry some 8 pounds (3.6 kilograms) and 22 square feet (2 square meters) of it.
Lets talk about our hands. We use them to turn wrenches, to poor oil, to spray various cleaners, to grab dirty machinery parts. Guess what? That little organ we talked about earlier. Yes, that’s right, our skin. It actually covers our hands as well.
One example of something we come in contact with often in our line of business is crude oil (refined of course). Crude oil is a complex mixture of petrochemicals that includes all the most dangerous chemicals in gasoline, plus plenty of others — clearly not something you want to be coated in.
Dizziness, euphoria, nausea, blurry vision and headaches are a few of the short-term effects of such compounds as benzene, toluene, and xylenes, which are also found in gasoline. Symptoms can be a lot like a very bad case of alcohol poisoning which also foul up the workings of the nervous system.
There are long-term health dangers too. Benzene, in particular, has been tied to adult leukemia and other cancers. Benzene does this by entering cells and damaging DNA material.
Simply put you should be protecting that skin on your hands.
Glockner Oil has 2 kinds of gloves in a variety of sizes. We have you covered. Now cover yourself.
Service Pro products were introduced in 1995 as the national brand of the Association of Independent Oil Distributors (AIOD), an international marketing group of independently owned distributors with 79 distribution facilities to serve the professional installer.
Introducing the new E-Pak Lubricants Dispensing System from Service Pro. This innovative design provides professional installers with a cost effective alternative for offering a wider variety of premium Service Pro motor oils and fluids. Using the Service Pro dispensing system 6 gallon package, installers can now inventory up to 6 different products in the same floor space as required for a single 55 gallon drum. This means reduce inventory costs, better customer service, increased inventory control and maximum profits.
Service Pro E-Pak containers are 100% recyclable. This sustainable packaging innovation addresses the environmental challenge of properly disposing of used containers.
